“Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6
The last few days have been tough. Everything seemed to be going as planned until a roadblock forced a turn I did not want to make. So, I did what I usually do. I began to gather data and formulate a solution to the problem before me. And, while my proposal for resolution is well-thought out and rational, something is holding me back from sharing it with the intended recipients. I awakened early this morning with this verse on my heart:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Once again, God reminded me through His word that He’s got the answers I need already. The problem I am trying to solve is complex, and yet, I have been relying on my own understanding to bring it to a conclusion. This Proverb is rich in so many ways:
- Trust in the Lord with ALL your heart – not just some of your heart – ALL your heart. There should be no room for anything but God.
- In ALL your ways submit to him – not just some of your ways – ALL your ways. There should be no one else leading your life but God.
It’s one thing to trust God. It’s another thing to submit to Him. It’s easy to trust and submit when we fully understand what’s happening. It’s much harder to trust and submit when we don’t, but that is exactly what we need to do.
Today, let God be God, and let Him make your paths straight – even if it requires a little detour along the way.
Be blessed,

Yes. ALL our heart. ALL our ways. I love this.
